THE GROUP behind Community Radio Station  Seaside FM 105.3 obtained an Awards for All grant of £9,340 from the Big Lottery Fund last month to help it in its work.

The community radio station covers the South Holderness area of East Yorkshire and broadcasts full time on 105.3 FM from its studio in Withernsea. They will use their award in a project to capture the life stories and experiences of older people and preserve these for future generations.

Seaside FM are a local success story, but other groups in the Holderness area can also apply for Awards for All grants – find out more below:

AWARDS FOR ALL is a UK wide Big Lottery Fund grant scheme that offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that improve communities. The grants are awarded to voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations, parish and town councils.

The Awards for All programme aims to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need. In England the grants can be awarded to fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes:

  • People have better chances in life – with better access to training and development to improve their life skills.
  • Stronger communities – with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems.
  • Improved rural and urban environments – which communities are better able to access and enjoy.
  • Healthier and more active people and communities.

Awards for All is one of the ‘easier’ grants to apply for and you can apply at any time. You will find out within 6-weeks if you have been successful.

You can apply online at www.awardsforall.org.uk or you can fill in a paper application form and send it through the post.

If you have questions about how to apply or plan your project, there are many sources of advice and help. Use the Awards for All contact details below with any questions you have.
