£200 millon is to be invested into a new biofuel plant at Saltend. Once operational the plant is expected to convert one million tonnes of wheat  into 420 million litres of bioethanol and 500,000 tonnes of high protein animal feed each year.

Vivergo Fuels is the specially created company behind the development, which it describes as “a biorefinery for the future”. The company is made up from a partnership of BP, DuPont and British Sugar.

  1. An interesting question to put to Vivergo Fuels:

Of the 400 construction jobs and 75 permanent jobs created to date, how many have gone to people living in the HU postcode areas (HU1 to HU20)?
