Humberside Police have launched Lifestyle 2009.
Lifestyle – which has operated every year since 1988 – seeks to encourage a positive relationship between police and young people through encouraging active citizenship. It results in young people carrying out some wonderful and inspiring activities in their communities.
Young people aged between 10 and 16 are encouraged to work in small teams to create community projects. Teams receive support and help to develop their ideas through a project handbook. An Adult Adviser has to be involved to oversee the safe running of each project. Each team member receives a Log Book, to record their progress on the teams achievements.
Completed Log Books are submitted into a friendly competition with winning teams getting prizes and awards for their efforts. The top prize this year is a trip to Florida to visit Disneyland and other well known theme parks.
Further details are available from the Humberside Police website link highlighted above. The first 5,000 to register will each receive a free Lifestyle 2009 T-shirt and a project pack!
