East Riding Council car parking: Charges compromise considered?

The Hull Daily Mail has reported that the East Riding Council is actively considering alternative proposals to its plans to scrap free parking at 20 sites across the East Riding.

The latest idea being examined means that restricted free parking would be available at council-run short-day sites in the area. Motorists would be able to park free of charge for a limited period before charges kick in.

Councillor Felicity Temple confirmed to the Hull Daily Mail on Saturday 25th April that the option was under discussion. She is reported as saying:

“It is something we are looking at, along with a number of other options. There are revenue implications to consider if we go down that particular route and they would need to be examined very carefully before any decision was made.”

The consultation ‘roadshow’ for Hedon residents on car parking charges takes place at South Holderness School on Thursday 14th May. Residents can drop-in at any time between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.
